Camp Letter #2

Hello to all of our readers,

Hello again from Ukraine! We are happy to announce we have successfully finished our first and second day of English Bible Camp! Things ran very smoothly and the team had great feedback! There were lots of children who came back to camp from last year! That is a great encouragement because we know that students enjoyed themselves last year.

This year at our camp is at the same location as last year. We are enjoying English lessons, sports, videos, crafts, drama and games. With the help of our able Ukrainian translators, we share the gospel with our students. Our first day went very well with around 90 students in attendance. Last year we had about 110 students. The age range of camp this year is 6-18. The average class size is 12 students.

This year our theme is “Faith”, lessons from the life of Joseph, with Romans Hebrews 11:1 as our theme verse: “Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.”

After school today some of the team took a trip the black sea. The black sea is about 45 minutes away. On the way to the black sea there are huge sunflower fields! It is so beautiful to see thousands of them!

Each evening this week there will be some team meetings and hanging out together. But our main focus and energy is saved for our days with our students at camp. On Thursday night we will be hosting an “American Night” for our Ukrainian friends. We plan on showing them a small part of how we celebrate the 4th of July. We will have a potato sack race, make them a meal (bbq chicken, corn on the cob, brownies, watermelon and lemonade) and put on a short production full of skits! We are excited to share a little of our culture with them and pray it all goes well!

We are thankful for all of your prayers and support! Stay tuned for more updates this week!

Please Pray For:

  • Our team, the students, Ukrainian translators; for openness to the Gospel.
  • The students to have soft hearts and open ears what the teachers will be sharing with them this week.
  • Please pray healing. Our team member Matt Philips was bit by something and his ankle is pretty swollen. He is helping with music and it is hard for him to walk around.

Praise God For:

  • For a successful and fun first and second day of camp!
  • All of the students who are so excited about being here!
  • A great positive team that works well together!

By His Grace,

John & Nichole
